In year 4 ECU CSI will coordinate with Seim at UNC CH to maintain 4 NC radar installations: DUCK, HATY, CORE and OCRA located in Duck, Buxton, Ocracoke, and the Core Banks of NC. Also, data flow from these radial sites will be maintained from the sites to UNC CH. All systems will be operated as continuously as possible, and data flow to SECOORA and HFRNet will be maintained. Because of the geographically distributed nature of the NC coast, UNC-CH will be responsible for maintaining hardware at the CORE site and CSI will maintain hardware at the other three radial sites. UNC-CH will be responsible for data management, any reprocessing and forming totals. We anticipate some repairs to the hardware as has occurred in most years, typically cable cuts, antenna failures or communications or driver hardware issues. A small travel and supplies budget will support these activities. The bulk of the funding to ECU-CSI will provide site support and calibration. The full inclusion of OCRA into the network is anticipated to require a number of steps. At present the processing occurs at SkIO and will need to transfer to UNC-CH, and a number of upgrades for long term resiliency will be made by the Muglia group. UNC and CSI will work with SkIO on this transition of processing after initial acquisition, whereas CSI will bear responsibility for maintaining the radial site hardware, communications and power systems. CSI will become more familiar with the WERA system upkeep at OCRA after having several years of experience maintaining CODAR systems. OCRA will have all antenna cables replaced, and wires will be routed underneath the existing road to improve long-term resilience at the site.
