abstract

  • Provide a short description of the project (maximum 200 words) that is suitable for a lay audience. This project aims to solicit $10,045 for the purpose of initiating the ECU Consortium for Trauma & Resiliency Research (CTRR) through connecting researchers across East Carolina University and community partners to collectively address the impact of ACEs & trauma and build more resilient communities in eastern North Carolina. The project proposed to the Star Foundation is a year-long effort to build connections between researchers across ECU and community partners, a current effort across the community in the areas of community resilience building. Through this effort we hope to identify gaps through collaboration with a comprehensive research team who can apply their research expertise to these areas needing attention in eastern North Carolina and beyond. If funded, we propose to have an initial gathering of identified researchers across ECU in June of 2024 at the ECU Student Center for approximately 30 dedicated researchers. We are identifying researchers at ECU and estimate that there are between 20-50 scholars working on trauma. After these research relationships are established, we hope to have a gathering of community groups involved in trauma, resilience or ACEs to connect them together to discover overlaps and gaps in the work that is being done in eastern North Carolina.
