Mosquitoes can transmit harmful pathogens to humans and other animals through blood feeding. Mosquito control programs conduct surveillance, source reduction, treatment of immature mosquito oviposition sites, and adulticide sprays to protect public health. In some areas, homeowners may consider contracting with private mosquito control companies to address mosquito-related issues. We will evaluate the efficacy of barrier sprays (using 2 different active ingredients) by comparing weekly host-seeking mosquito abundance and oviposition at treatment and control properties in residential neighborhoods.
