The purpose of this additional funding is to support return to school activities post COVID-19 closures. Supplemental funds are available to support the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) COVID-19 school-based guidance. The NC School Health Training Center (NC SHTC) will develop instructional resources that address the CDC reopening guidelines for schools and align with the NC Essential Standards for Health Education and provide virtual trainings on the use of these resources. The NC SHTC will work with field experts to develop instructional resources following CDC guidance and recommendations for the provision of physical education and activity following COVID-19 closure. In addition, the NC SHTC will provide professional development to support teachers and schools in the provision of physical activity and physical education following COVID-19 closure. The NC SHTC is committed to assisting schools with health promotion messaging for faculty, staff, students, and parents. The NC SHTC will identify and print or purchase health promotion posters that reflect the NC Department of Public Instruction and CDC COVID-19 guidance for schools related to hand washing, distancing, and face covering.
