Given the growing and timely concern regarding student-athlete well-being, it is vital to better understand the coach's role in promoting student-athlete help-seeking. Research has identified the coach as both a source and barrier to help-seeking, indicating the coach-athlete dynamic is important, but complex and not well-understood. In an effort to better serve our student-athletes, a mixed-method approach will be used to identify coach factors that positively impact student-athlete willingness to seek help (Phase I) and the coach factors that best predict student-athlete help-seeking (Phase II). Results will provide important evidence on how to best direct student-athletes faced with stressful situations.
