Children with ADHD have a higher rate of dental caries than their typically developing peers, but thereason for this is unclear. Several hypotheses are provided in the literature, including chronic drymouth caused by ADHD medications, parental overuse of sugary treats as rewards, and poorerhygiene among children with attention disorders. A few researchers have examined this question, butthe results have been equivocal.
