The objective of this project has been to investigate the effects of social experience in regulating spinal motor circuits and the ability of animals to shift their motor behavior. This has been a collaborative effort between two PI in different departments (Biology and Mathematics). Our effort was two-fold: (1) To investigate cellular neuro-mechanisms of how social factors reconfigure the endocannabinoid system to allow animals to adapt to changes in social status. (2) To develop a neuro-computational model of the identified spinal motor circuits to be better understand how the observed changes in empirical data can be explained by mathematical models.
