abstract

  • The LifeVest, a Wearable Cardioverter Defibrillator, can prevent sudden cardiac death. Investigation of the LifeVest, including clinical trials, is ongoing. The Patient Centered Launch (PCL) sequence refers to a clinical approach that incorporates current WCD fitting and instruction and adds attention to biopsychosocial health outcomes using patient centered coaching. This approach is directed by a health care provider to address psychological adjustment and behavioral engagement in physical activity and self-care and leverages WCD utility and data capture. Dr. Sears will act as a consultant for ZOLL on the PCL project. Consultant duties will include: creation of patient and clinician educational material, creation of presentations for patients and clinicians outlining how to overcome study barriers, study design, data analysis, manuscript preparation and publication, travel (to Pittsburgh, PA and other sites as needed), and others as identified by ZOLL.
