Insecticide resistance and bionomics of Aedes albopictus in North Carolina Grant uri icon

abstract

  • Zika virus is an emerging mosquito-borne pathogen that is a public health issue. Viremic individuals have the potential to infect local mosquitoes and initiate local transmission. Day-active Ae. albopictus mosquitoes are notoriously difficult to control. Consequently, we will assess the occurrence/abundance/ daily host-seeking activity patterns of a potential Zika virus vector (Aedes albopictus) and assess insecticide susceptibility/resistance across NC.
