  • The Preventing Underage Drinking Initiative seeks to prevent youth access to alcohol by implementing environmental strategies in Pitt County. For this particular year, we will be fully implementing the Talk It Up. Lock it Up! tools provided. As a part of this plan, alcohol locks will be purchased to distribute widely to the community. In addition, community wide education regarding the importance of securing and monitoring alcohol will also be conducted. The. PCCSU Youth Team will be leading many of these efforts. In addition to the Talk It Up. Lock it Up! campaign, we will also conduct alcohol purchase surveys to ensure off-premise merchants are properly checking IDs, we will continue educating merchants to provide to-go and delivery alcohol purchases about the importance of properly checking IDS, and we will conducting more interviews with community members to better understand the landscape of underage drinking in Pitt County.
