Acquisition of High Performance Computing Resources in Support of the Consortium for Computational Chemistry and Materials Sciences Grant uri icon

abstract

  • East Carolina University, Departments of Chemistry and Physics, and NC Agricultural and Technical University, School of Engineering, have established a Consortium for Computational Chemistry and Materials Sciences. The focus of the Consortium is the study of the physical and chemical properties of and simulation of chemical physical processes in molecules, nanomaterials, and bulk materials. To further their shared goals in research and research training, the Consortium requires high performance computing resources. This proposal requests the acquisition of a Silicon Graphics 3900 high performance computer system with 40 processors, 20 GB memory, 2 TB of disk space, specialized software, and funds for support and maintenance.
