Paul Green Editing Project Grant uri icon

abstract

  • Dr. Bauer will edit a Paul Green manuscript for the (deceased) author's family and the Paul Green Foundation. During the past year, she has progressed significantly with editing the author's transcriptions of his taped interviews with Green and proofreading quotations from various published secondary sources. A graduate student is proofreading the manuscript's quotations from the Green diaries. PI still has to edit taped interviews quoted, which she plans to do over this summer, along with continuing to edit the manuscript. The book contributes significantly to Paul Green scholarship. The majority of it is based on unpublished interviews. It is believed that if an appendix is to be added to the manuscript in which to index these interviews, which are now part of the Southern Historical Collection, other Green scholars would find these recordings more accessible. But this idea, too, will add to the amount of time the project requires. PI will continue to travel to the SHC during the summer as well as to work on editing the manuscript, hoping to have a completed draft by the ~ring semester, with the help of the Paul Green Foundation, which has offered to "buyout" one of fall 2006 class.
