Evaluation of barrier sprays in eastern NC for control of Aedes albopictus Grant uri icon

abstract

  • Barrier sprays are being used more frequently for control of "backyard" mosquitoes such as Aedes albopictus. This mosquito species can serve as a vector of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika viruses, among others. Hence, we will evaluate the efficacy of a formulated product (at different application rates and frequencies) used in barrier sprays for mosquito control in a suburban community in eastern North Carolina. Spatiotemporal mosquito abundance will be tracked in relation to treated and untreated locations.
