Role of ARID3a in aging human hematopoietic progenitor cells Grant uri icon

abstract

  • Our data indicate that the transcription factor ARID3a, which is required for normal blood cell development, is reduced in blood from healthy people over 60 as compared to young people. Very little is known about the function of ARID3a in hematopoietic progenitor cells, nor about the effects of loss of ARID3a on aged hematopoietic stem cells. These studies will reveal important insights into alterations in blood cell development and function in aged individuals that may lead to therapeutic targets in the future.
