Human postural control is a dynamic sensory integration process involving visual, somatosensory, and vestibular information. Older adults rely heavily on visual input to maintain balance during daily activities. The overall aim of this project is to use neuroimaging to investigate the central mechanism of sensory integration for balance control and neural resource allocation with an illusion of self-motion provided by optic flow stimulation and concurrent auditory reaction time tasks.
