Frances Eason is Professor in the Department of Baccalaureate Education and has held a graduate appointment. Frances has many years of teaching in Nursing Programs and also served 12 years on the NC Board of Nursing as an educator. During that time, she was chair of the Board of Nursing for 2 years and Vice Chair for 2 years.Frances has received many teaching awards and was the first nurse to receive the East Carolina University "Outstanding ECU Alumni Award" in 1997. She earned Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) certification in 2007 and was recognized as a Fellow in the Academy of Nursing Education (ANEF) in September 2007. More recently Frances was in the 2011 College of Nursing's Inaugural Hall of Fame. She received an ECU Scholar Teacher Award in 2010. Dr. Eason has spent much of her professional career with a focus on the NCLEX-RN and how to partner with graduates to be successful. Her career includes teaching in several European Countries as well as in the US. These countries include Romania, Bulgaria and Modova. Dr. Eason developed and implemented the NEED course for the College of Nursing Faculty members in the Fall/Spring 2006-07 and in 2007 provided the course in an on-line format. She continues to be the facilitator and has had more than 390 nurse educators complete the offering. Dr. Eason continues to serve on University and College of Nursing Committees and Task Forces as well as providing much individualized guidance for graduating seniors regarding not only their career goals but also the Licensure exam.Dr. Eason teaches and in addition offers Student Transitions, HESI Test Remediation and NCLEX-RN Reviews.Her main focus is teaching and providing remediation to enable graduates to be successful on the National Licensure Examination.
Offer various recrutiment opportunities for Graduating Seniors
Have designed a "Lunch & Learn" session for employers to attend ECU and recruit during a lunch session. Very successul as students have opportunities to ask about career opportunities and job related benefits. 2022
Re-approval of NEEDs course by NCBON
Updated, 45-hour course and compiled in-depth report to present to NCBON on December 15, 2021. Report contained progress and student-specific work sites as well as student reponses to course assignments. Course was approved until January 2027 after a comprehensive review by board staff. 2021
