Conference Presentations: In the past 10 years I have presented at regional conferences and our national conference. Conference presentations topics include: pedagogy in public speaking courses, the identities of women who have been incarcerated, and race and family dynamics.
I am currently a member of a national research cohort investigating how we teach online communication (specifically public speaking) classes and best practices in this area.

Other noteworthy areas of expertise/achievements (i.e. administration, leadership, assessment, etc.): In the past 10 years I have had the opportunity to hold various positions in higher education across multiple institutions. I spent 5 years working in retention including: professional advising for students seeking entry into a nationally ranked pharmacy school, curriculum coordinator and course director for a freshman seminar course that was required for all incoming freshman at the university, supervisor of supplemental instruction leaders, and an active participant in freshman orientations. Additionally, I served as the Director for Retention at the community college level. Other higher education positions held include tenure track faculty at a state school, as well as tenure track faculty at a private liberal arts institution. In my role at ECU over the past 5 years, I have advanced in rank twice and gained graduate teaching status.
Awards/Recognitions:
Non-Service Dissertation Fellowship recipient for the 2008-2009 academic year. This highly competitive fellowship is awarded to two of approximately 40 doctoral students in the Communication doctoral program at Bowling Green State University.
