Eribo Biosketch
Festus Eribo is a professor of journalism and mass communication at East Carolina University, USA. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA and M.A. in journalism from St. Petersburg State University, formerly Leningrad State University, Russia. Eribo has been a visiting scholar at the China University of Political Science and Law, Beijing, China.
He is an award winning communication researcher and author/co-editor of eight books, including In Search of Greatness: Russia's Communication with Africa and the World, Development and Communication in Africaand Press Freedom and Communication in Africa. He was co-editor of the Journal of Global Mass Communication. He has published several book chapters and journal articles.
Eribo reported for newspapers in Russia and Nigeria and was a public relations manager and principal image-maker in both the public and private sectors. He was an editorial board member of the Nigerian Observer and consultant/academic adviser to Freedom House, USA, on the rating of press freedom in Africa.
He is a founding faculty member of the Department of Communication, now the School of Communication, at East Carolina University. He has taught Advanced Reporting, International Public Relations, International News Communication, Media, Culture and Society, Media Ethics, andMedia Writing.
