Debra Schisler
Debra began her accounting career as an auditor with Deloitte &; Touche in Memphis, TN after earning her Master of Accountancy from Auburn University in 1990. She relocated to Greenville in 1992, working for a local public accounting firm before launching a home-based bookkeeping and tax service for small businesses and nonprofits. In 2006, she joined East Carolina University as a teaching instructor, where she teaches Financial Accounting for buisness majors. She earned her CPA license in Tennessee and holds a reciprocal certification in North Carolina.
Debra is an avid exerciser and enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time at her beach house in Newport, NC. She is married to Dan Schisler, a professor in the department, and they have two daughters, Jessica and Samanta, both ECU Master of Science in Accounting graduates. She is also a proud grandmother to McKinley and Grayson, who affectionatley call her DeeDee.

Sea Gate Women's Club Elected Treasurer of this organizaiton in January 2025. I'm responsible for collecting dues, collecting cash at fundraising events, writing checks, reconciling the bank account, and reporting on the financial status to the Club members at the monthly meetings. 2024
Accounting Education in the High Schools Serve on an advisory team for the NC Department of Public Instruction to provide input on standards, objectives, and topics that serve as the framework for the BA10 Accounting 1 and the BA20 Accounting II courses for the state's high school business curriculum. 2023
Crystal Coast Hospice House Joined both the Board and the Finance Committee in April of 2024. 2023
