overview
- Dr. Chad Morris is an applied medical anthropologist whose work focuses on community-based prevention research: how communities can be brought together to reduce rates of non-communicable disease such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. The bulk of his work is done in the Republic of Palau in Micronesia, but he always enjoys opportunities to apply anthropology more locally, such as in efforts to improve access to health care for underserved members of local communities. Dr. Morris has served in multiple roles (currently Treasurer) for the National Association for the Practice of Anthropology and as the elected ethics official for the American Anthropological Association. He became Chair of the ECU Department of Anthropology in 2024 after service as Honors Program Director and Chair of the Department of Sociology and Public Health at Roanoke College in Virginia.
