Dr. Furner has served in the department of Management Information Systems in the College of Business at East Carolina University since August 2013. His research interests include mobile computing issues including location-based privacy, mobile app stickiness and mobile self-efficacy. Dr. Furner also studies cultural determinants of individual level information systems outcomes, such as Knowledge Management System effectiveness, media choice and purchase intention in an e-commerce setting.
Dr. Furner greatly enjoys teaching and has consistently received excellent teaching evaluations. He is actively involved in assessment efforts, and was an instrumental part of the AACSB and ABET accreditation efforts at West Texas A&;M University. In addition, Dr. Furner took a leadership role in the development of East Carolina University's graduate program in Data Analytics.
Dr. Furner is actively engaged in University and professional service. At East Carolina University, he serves on the Graduate Council and the Graduate Curricilum Committee. He has previous served as Program Cordinator for the Business Analytics Graduate Certificate and on a variety of Assurance of Learning Committees at the College and Department level. At West Texas A&;M University, he has served as an advisor to two student groups, Chair of the Faculty Development and Recognition Committee and on numerous University, College and Department committees, including the Institutional Research Board. He has also served as Managing Editor for Communications of the AIS.
