Dr. Silvana Pasetto is a teaching assistant professor in the Department of Biology at ECU College of Arts &; Sciences. Dr. Silvana Pasetto received a BSc from Herminio Hometo University, Ms., and a Ph.D. from the State University of Campinas - UNICAMP. In Addition, she completed two postdoctoral fellowships in Microbiology/Immunology at Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry, University of Southern California, and at the School of Dental Medicine, East Carolina University. She also worked as an Associate Researcher at Adams School of Dentistry - UNC. She previously held academic positions at the State University of Amazonas, Northern University Center - UNINORTE - Laureate International Universities, and the University of Sagrado Coracao in Brazil.
As a biologist, her interests are histology, oral embryology and pathology, virology, and basic genetics. Her long academic training provided her with an excellent background in multiple biological disciplines. She mentored undergraduate, graduate, master's, and Ph.D. students. She also has research experience in Molecular Biology and electron and confocal microscopies, among other skills and knowledge.
