I am an experienced professional with a high interest in helping students and organizations achieve their full potential. I truly enjoy teaching because I have a passion for mentoring and training our future leaders. A graduate from Johnson &; Wales University, with an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts. I spent several years working in a Resort in the beautiful mountains of Pennsylvania. A few years later, I decided to go back to school to earn my Bachelor’s degree from East Stroudsburg University in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism, after graduation I began working for Sodexo, working in corporate service accounts. In 2008, I decided to go back to school and received my MBA in Finance in 2011. During my schooling for my MBA, I really started to realize I liked analyzing information from a financial perspective. Since I had gone this far with my education why stop with an MBA, I decided to go for a Doctorate in Business Administration, with a concentration in Strategy and Innovation. While obtaining my DBA I conducted extensive research on Fortune 500 companies. This shows it does not matter where you start on the journey it is how you finish. My professional experience is a follows, I spent about 25 years in the foodservice industry. Over the past five to eight years, my professional experience has focused on financial analyses, and organizational strategies to ensure organizations meet their short and long term strategic goals. I got the education bug, while I was a ski instructor for ten years, and when I taught at local community college in Virginia. The most important aspect about teaching are the interactions and seeing the students grow over the semester. I make sure to bring in real-world examples to reinforce the material being taught.
3M Thesis ECU Graduate School Competition
Three-Minute Thesis is an international competition for graduate students to present their research in 3 minutes or less using only 1 slide. The first 3MT was held at The University of Queensland in 2008 with 160 PhD students competing. Enthusiasm for the 3MT concept grew and its widespread implementation by universities has led to the development of an international competition. The global reach of the competition can be seen by the extent of participation with universities in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Vietnam also hosting local 3MT events. East Carolina University is proud to host the Three Minute Thesis competition and hope that you will join us for this exciting event. 2025
