James Loudon

overview

  • I am a broadly trained biological anthropologist whose work focuses on the behavior and biology of nonhuman primates inhabiting urban landscapes. ;To fully understand the dynamics of human-nonhuman primate interconnections, I utilize interdisciplinary approaches by using stable isotope analysis, toxicology, and parasite ecology. I also employ qualitative methods including semi-structured interviews and questionnaires to understand the attitudes and perceptions that local people or tourists hold towards nonhuman primates and Balinese ecosystems. I have successfully used quantitative and qualitative approaches at my research sites in Asia and Africa. ; For 20 years, I worked with the University of Udayana in Bali, Indonesia, and local Balinese people who live among macaque monkeys. ; This relationship includes developing community outreach programs and a variety educational materials aimed at environmental literacy, sustainable conservation initiatives, and protocols for managing macaque populations. ; ;
