I am ; a ; Clinical Associate Professor of Nursing at East Carolina University (ECU) currenlty serving as Department Chair for the Baccalaureate Education Department and Director of ; the Second -Degree ABSN Option. I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Atlantic Christian College (Barton College now) in Wilson, NC. ; .Upon graduation I worked in various clinical settings including Pitt County Memorial Hospital (Vidant Medical Center now), Wilson Memorial Hospital (Duke Life Point - Wilson now) and the Wilson County Health Department (WCHD), ; My major focus in the hospital setting was medical-surgical and intensive care nursing. ; While at the WCHD, I worked with adult and pediatric patients as well as served as the Health Promotion Coordinator. ; In 1989, I changed my focus and began teaching nursing in the classroom and clinical setting at Wilson Technical Community College (WTCC). ; In 1994, while at WTCC, I received the Faculty of the Year award. ; I receivedmtr Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Nursing Education at East Carolina University ;in 2006. In 2007 I was hired by the ECU College of Nursing as a Clinical Associate Professor. ; In 2017, I completed my PhD in nursing at ECU. ; I hope to continue researching the use of simulation with nursing students as well as on the development of clinical judgment in nursing students.
