Hannah Kohr

  • Dr. Hannah Mayfield Kohr is a compositionist with a specialty in writing studies, new media, and young adult literature. She is also interested in composition theory and practice, writing center theory, and fandom studies. Her current research interests include: affect and emotion in writing, embodiment, and digital fandom.She enjoys discussing the ways in which literacy is always mediated by who we are, where we are, what we write with, and how we're feeling. She is especially interested in how our bodies are treated in mediated spaces, particularly the classroom. Over the years she has developed as a teacher as well as a researcher who works with qualitative data, ethnographic methods, and careful reflection to account for the conditions and bodied experiences of literacy and learning.Her administrative work has included mentorship and supervision in the First-Year Writing Program at NC State University in 2020 as well as the Writing Center at Gardner-Webb University in 2023.In addition to her writing program administration (WPA) experience and teaching, she also works creatively, including drawing and poetry. Her poem, "A Woman in Labor," won The Broad River Review Editor's Prize in Poetry in 2013.
