• Dr. Mary Tucker-McLaughlin, Professor and Assistant Director for Undergraduate Studies for the ECU School of Communication, holds a PhD in Mass Communication from the University of South Carolina. Her current research focuses on the use of technology in the dissemination of public health messages. In 2016 she was named an ECU University Scholar and has served as an investigator on both internal and external grants including a Robert Wood Johnson grant for $250,000 and and NIH grant for $453,000.00 in 2022. Her research has been published in multiple academic journals in the health promotion and mass communication fields. She is a former television news journalist and public relations professional who currently serves as a media consultant to manufacturing and health organizations in Eastern North Carolina.
