Elizabeth De Jesus Toderick

  • Dr. De Jesús Toderick has been a Registered Nurse for 38 years. For 20 years she served her profession as a Hematology/Oncology nurse in a variety of roles such as High-Tech Infusion Nurse, Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator, Hematology/Oncology Service Line Liaison, Home Care/Hospice, and Nurse Manager.
    Dr. De Jesús Toderickwas born and raised in Chicago. In 1998 she moved to Eastern North Carolina and accepted a full-time position as a nurse educator at Pitt Community College (PCC) and continued to work part-time at Pitt County Memorial Hospital (PCMH) as a staff nurse in hematology/oncology, home care/hospice, and the bone marrow unit.
    In 2005,Dr. De Jesús Toderickwas appointed as PCC's Director of Nursing/Department Chair and provided leadership to the program for 14 years. Her areas of expertise are Professional Behaviors, Hematology/Oncology, Immunity, Inflammation, Conflict Resolution, TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer, Transition to Practice, Cultural Diversity, Interprofessional Education (IPE), Research and Evidence-Based Practice.
    Dr. De Jesús Toderick joined East Carolina University College of Nursing in Fall of 2019 with the Depatment of Advanced Nursing Practice and Education. She holds the rank of Clinical Associate Professor and specializes in nursing education.
    Dr. De Jesús Toderickeducational background consists of a Diploma in Nursing received from St. Anne's Hospital School of Nursing-Chicago, BSN from Elmhurst College-Elmhurst, IL, MSN in Community Health Leadership from East Carolina University, a Post-Master Certificate in Nursing Education from East Carolina University, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Loyola University-Chicago with a focus in Nursing Education. Her final capstone project was a collaborative Transition to Practice IPE between Pitt Community College Nursing Program, East Carolina University School of Nursing, and the Brody School of Medicine.
    In keeping with the spirit of life-long learning, in summer of 2020, Dr. De Jesús Toderick began and thus far has completed a 3 credit hour course within the ECU Graduate Certificate in Distance Learning and Administration Program.
