• Dr. Laura merrell is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Education and Promotion at East Carolina University. She earned a PhD in Public Health from the University of South Florida where she also earned a MPH. She also holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her research interests primarily focus on health literacy in sexual and reproductive health (HPV vaccination, sexual health knowledge, and sexual assault prevention) and maternal health (health information seeking, factors affecting maternal mortality and morbidity). In all of her work, Dr. Merrell aims to promote health equity.
