Shannon Wright Longshore

overview

  • Dr. Shannon Longshore is a board-certified pediatric surgeon with a clinical focus on pediatric trauma and injury prevention. After earning her medical degree at the University of Tennessee, Dr. Longshore completed her surgical residency at the University of California, Davis Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in pediatric surgery at Loma Linda Children's Hospital.
    Currently, Dr. Longshore practices at East Carolina University Health Center, where she serves as the chief of pediatric surgery, medical director of pediatric trauma, and medical director of injury prevention. Throughout her career she has demonstrated commitment to pediatric trauma with publications, serving as co-chair and then chair of the Pediatric Trauma Society guidelines committee, and serving as a vice chair of pediatric trauma for the state of North Carolina COT.
    She is also committed to injury prevention. The injury prevention team has received grant funding for suicide prevention, firearm safe storage, teen safe driving and most recently for a hospital-based violence injury prevention program.
