- April H. Reed, PhD, PMP is a Full Professor in the College of Business, Management Information Systems (MIS) department at East Carolina University. She conducts research in the area of IS/IT project management, educational simulations, pedagogy, virtual teams, pair programming, project risk management and STEM education. She is a PMI certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Certified Scrum Master (CSM). She has held several industry positions including Programmer, Systems Analyst and Project Manager. She has published several papers on the topic of project management methodologies, project management education, risk and virtual project teams as well as pair programming in IS journals such as International Journal of Information Technology Project Management, Journal of Computer Information Systems, International Journal of Project Management, Informing Sciences and Journal of Information Technology Management. She has also published on the use of simulations in education. She was accepted into the 2017-2018 Engagement Outreach Scholars Academy with a $5,000 grant. She used the funding to plan and conduct a MIS STEM Camp in November 2017 for local middle and high school girls with a community partner and then conducted research on the outcome of the camp. She has applied for and received several other grants to conduct the MIS STEM Camp annually during the summer (2018, 2019 and 2022). She continues to host a MIS STEM Event for local middle school students from 2017 to the present. She holds a PhD in Computer Science/Information Systems from DePaul University.
