overview

• I am an academic obstetrician and gynecologist practicing and teaching medicine at the referral institutions for the eastern quarter of North Carolina. My practice involves the management and treatment of complex gynecological and obstetrical patients. My current clinical and research interests focus on the bariatric obstetrical patient, insulin resistance, and minimally invasive surgery in the bariatric gynecological patient. In my capacity as Medical Director of Regional Obsetrics Education at ECU Health Medical Center, I have worked with organizations and institutions both locally and statewide to improve the quality and safety of obstetric care for the pregnant women of eastern North Carolina. This has involved meeting with, educating, and collaborating with every obstetric unit and provider in the 29-county region of eastern North Carolina. The numerous quality projects we have accomplished has brought us significantly closer to our overall goal of Making Eastern North Carolina the Best Place to be Born.
