Dr. Katherine Klimchock is a Teaching Instructor in the Department of Recreation Sciences and Sport Management. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Marketing from The Pennsylvania State University, a Master of Science in Sport Management from West Virginia University, a Master of Science in Higher Education Leadership from Post University, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Practice and Leadership with a specialization in Sports Leadership from the University of North Dakota.Dr. Klimchock has taught undergraduate courses in event management, recreation and sport administration, case studies, and scheduling logistics. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes leadership development, ethical decision-making, and connecting classroom concepts with real-world professional practice.Prior to joining the faculty full-time, Dr. Klimchock served as a Student-Athlete Senior Academic Coordinator and Tutor Coordinator in ECU Student-Athlete Academic Services, where she advised Division I student-athletes and developed academic success initiatives.Dr. Klimchock's research interests center on student-athlete development, academic success, leadership, and emerging issues in intercollegiate athletics. Her doctoral dissertation,Exploring Student-Athlete Perceptions on NIL Opportunities in the Cannabinoid Industry, examined student-athletes' perspectives on evolving NIL opportunities and the need for educational resources to support informed decision-making.She is an active member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) and Women Leaders in College Sports.
