Sean Pumphrey, MSW, LCSW is a psychotherapist at Brody School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine. He attended UNC-Chapel Hill as an undergraduate and East Carolina University's School of Social Work as a graduate student. Sean has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. He is a regional and national speaker on topics such as ethics, suicide, and therapy, and has given over 95 talks &; presentations in the past 20 years. Additionally, Sean is currently appointed as Graduate Teaching Faculty at ECU's Graduate School of Social Work and has taught over 25 semesters in Graduate MSW classes. Lastly, Sean has earned two awards recently with one in 2025 as top 95%tile in patient care for ECU Health and in 2026 selected as North Carolina Myrna Miller Wellons Advocate of the Year for NASW-NC.
