overview

  • Hi everyone, I'm a fellowship trained abdominal transplant and hepatobiliary surgeon, and also a board certified general surgeon. My passion lies in helping organ donors gift their kidneys, livers, and pancreata to patients with end stage renal disease, end stage liver disease, and diabetes, respectively, by performing organ transplants, and organ recovery from living and deceased donors. I also enjoy creating permanent vascular access for dialysis in patients with end stage renal disease, by placing vascular grafts and peritoneal dialysis catheters, as well as arteriovenous fistula creation. My second passion lies in research, including both clinical and basic science bench work, of which I have 7 years of experience, including a post-doctoral research fellowship in translational immunology. I believe it's important to continuously generate new knowledge for the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes at the population level. I also have a MPH and using my public health background to work on policy changes to increase organ utilization is my third career goal. Lastly, I enjoy teaching and mentorship. In addition to clinical training of residents and students, I've also mentored students in the lab, ranging from high school to medical students, multiple of whom won awards for their research.
